The 26-year-old was named man of the match after bagging a brace of goals in the last-16 defeat of Mexico and is again expected to play a leading role in Cape Town.

“When you watch him play, it seems like Carlos is on a set of batteries that just keep going and going,” said the coach.

Maradona also admitted he played a major part in Tevez’s decision to leave Manchester United after being used sparsely by Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

“When I sent to see him in Manchester he was a substitute all the time,” said Maradona.

“I told him if he wanted to remain on the same level as all our other strikers things had to get better for him. And that was the day it was going to start.”

Blue Square punters can get 7/4 for Tevez to score in normal time against Germany and 22/1 he hits the back of the net in both halves.
