Carlos Tevez claims Argentina’s World Cup campaign will be deemed a failure unless they return home with the Jules Rimet Trophy.
Argentina began the tournament with a dominant 1-0 win over Nigeria, but it should have been more as Diego Maradona’s men failed to take numerous chances to add to Gabriel Heinze’s early header.
The win saw bookmakers quickly cut their odds on Argentina, and Tevez insists anything less than winning a third crown is not enough.
The Manchester City star said: “A good World Cup for Argentina will be to win it. There is nothing else that will do.
“If we get to the quarters the last 16, last eight or whatever, this will not do.”
Argentina return to action against South Korea on Thursday and the game is being broadcast on ITV1 and streamed live on ITV.com (12.30 BST).
But if you can't get near a television, World Cup News has you covered with the latest updates on our website and Twitter service.
