Gabriel Heinze insists Argentina will not be depending on Lionel Messi at the World Cup.
Messi (10/1 with StanJames to win the Golden Boot) has been in sensational form for Barcelona and is seen as key to Argentina’s bid to lift the Jules Rimet Trophy for the first time since 1986 (7/1, Coral).
But Heinze told Reuters: “I personally think it’s the team that makes you win these very difficult championships.
“Lionel is the best in the world, the who today is in his bets form, but Argentina do not depend on Lionel.
“Argentina depend on each one of the players who go out onto the pitch. We don’t need to put any pressure on Lio or anyone.
“It’s impressive what he does but he’s a human being and people forget he can have good days and bad days.
“Let’s hope he them all good for the good of Argentina. I hope the team is the star of the World Cup.”
William Hill are predicting more controversy from coach Diego Maradona this summer, and the bookmaker has announced its “Mad-adona” specials.
