World Cup Staff - 2 Jun 2010

Brazil warm up for the World Cup with a match today against Zimbabwe, and it is a great opportunity to see just what we can expect from Dunga’s side in South Africa.

Brazil are a best priced 1/10 (Coral) to win this afternoon, and just 4/6 (StanJames) to beat a two goal handicap.

There is, however, a huge gulf in class between the two sides and with Luis Fabiano (5/2, PaddyPower), Nilmar (7/2, PaddyPower) and Robinho (7/2, PaddyPower) in attack, goals shouldn’t be a problem for the South Americans.

Robinho tends to save his best for when he appears for the national side, and he plays with a freedom that was seldom seen during his time in the Premier League. He can be backed at 8/15 (PaddyPower) to score at any point during the game, and even although the odds are slim, he should be capable of finding the net.

Under Dunga, Brazil are a very solid side, to the extent that the manager has been criticised in his homeland for playing ‘negative football’. It means that they rarely concede, and it would be a huge surprise if Zimbabwe got a goal this afternoon.

It is 4/6 with PaddyPower that Brazil win to nil, and that is a better bet than backing the Samba Boys to beat a silly handicap, although they may well do that anyway, and a five-nil win (12/1, SkyBet) definitely isn’t out of the question.

Recommendations

Win to Nil – Brazil (4/6, PaddyPower)
