England coach Fabio Capello has heaped praised on Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
The Italian has coached some of the legends of the game during his glittering career and believes Rooney, 24, is already up there amongst them.
Capello told the League Managers’ Association magazine: “Wayne is one of the best talents I have ever coached.
“He’s like Raul in that he is a very important player and a big talent. Every time Rooney trains he wants to stay on the training pitch for as long as possible.
“It is really important the other players see that Rooney, one of the best players in the world, wants to stay on the pitch and wants to continue to learn.”
If he avoids injury Rooney is guaranteed to be part of Capello’s 23-man squad for the World Cup. You can back him at 11/1 with Blue Square and Paddy Power to finish top scorer in South Africa.
And Capello knows keeping his players injury free will be key to winning the Jules Rimet Trophy, with England priced at 6/1 with bet365, Betfred, Boylesports, Blue Square, Paddy Power, Stan James and William Hill.
“I can do a lot of in-depth preparation,” Capello continued.
“And then there is an injury – and everything that I have prepared is for nothing.”
