England midfielder Gareth Barry confirms he will miss World Cup opener

Gareth Barry will miss England’s opening World Cup match against the United States.

The Manchester City midfielder has made a good recovery from his ankle injury but has confirmed that Saturday’s game will come too soon for him.

Barry told www.newsoftheworld.com: “I’ve been told I’m not playing against USA to give me more time. I’ll be back in full training with the team (on Wednesday).”

England are 1/2 (bet365) to beat the United States on Saturday and 8/1 (William Hill) to win the World Cup.
