Ledley King will sit out England’s second Group C match against Algeria - but the Football Association have rubbished claims he will miss the rest of the World Cup with injury
The Tottenham captain suffered a groin injury during the draw with the United States and had to be withdrawn at half time.
King very briefly took part in a training session on Monday morning before heading off for more rehabilitation work, and will not feature on Friday.
A Football Association spokesman said: “Ledley has a groin muscle strain. He will be assessed on a day-to-day basis.”
England are clear 1/4 favourites with several bookmakers to win the game (kick off 19.30 BST, live on ITV1 and ITV.com), with bodog offering 6/1 that the Three Lions draw for a second game running. Algeria are 12/1 with Boylesports and Coral.
