England v Slovenia team news - Jermain Defoe in line to start, still no place for Joe Cole

World Cup Staff - 23 Jun 2010

England are set to continue with a 4-4-2 formation against Slovenia, which means Joe Cole is set to once again miss out on a starting place in the side.

Fabio Capello is, however, likely to drop Emile Heskey to the bench and play Jermain Defoe in partnership with Wayne Rooney in attack.

Shaun Wright-Phillips could be handed a start in place of Aaron Lennon in midfield, with Steven Gerrard continuing on the left wing.

Matthew Upson will partner John Terry in the centre of defence, in front of David James in goal.

Expected England Starting XI - James, Johnson, Upson, Terry, A Cole, Wright-Phillips, Barry, Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney, Defoe

Match Odds from William Hill - 1/2 England, 3/1 draw, 6-1 Slovenia

Kick off 15.00 BST, live on BBC One and bbc.co.uk.
