England coach Fabio Capello has hinted at the new faces he will build a team with – if he remains in the position.
Capello’s position is under major scrutiny following England’s dismal performance at the World Cup, and the Italian revealed on Monday that a decision would be made in the next two weeks by Club England chairman Sir David Richards.
However, the former AC Milan and Real Madrid coach insists he wishes to continue in the post, and he is already looking to the future.
“I think we will find two or three new players, probably, for the European Championship (qualifiers), he said.
“Adam Johnson, the Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs. Also, Michael Dawson although he is not young. Also Gabriel Agbonlahor and Bobby Zamora, who was injured this time. And another player we will hope will be fit is Owen Hargreaves.
“The best young players are in the under 21s and are not ready to play here at the World Cup. But I hope in the next year or six months people will come through.
“I hope Theo Walcott will be back and his shoulder is ok. And Jack Wilshere is another interesting player. I hope some good players will be ready in six months, it's possible.”
England’s next match is against Hungary on August 11 and Capello is 8/13 with SkyBet to still be in charge (6/5 not to be).
