Lukas Podolski insists the Germany camp will not be getting carried away with their 4-0 rout of Australia on Sunday.
Podolski (25/1 with Boylesports and Paddy Power to win the Golden Boot), Miroslav Klose (20/1 Ladbrokes, extrabet), Thomas Muller and Cacau were all on target as the Germans started in style.
And it could have been more against an Australian side that was thoroughly outclassed for almost 90 minutes.
The Cologne striker said: “I think we were pretty good from the first to the last minute.
“We had great attacks, got great goals and put our opponents under pressure. We implemented really well what we wanted to do and were rewarded.
Despite the result confirming why they are Group D favourites, Podolski insists Germany will not be resting on their laurels for the remaining two group games.
He said: “I know the whole of Germany is celebrating this victory right now, as they should.
“But we have to remain focused, keep working and implement what the coach tells us to do.
“This is just the first game and there is still a long way to go.”
Germany’s next game is against Serbia, beaten by Ghana at the weekend, and Joachim Loew’s side are 8/13 favourites (Bet365, Paddy Power, Coral). Serbia are 11/2 (SkyBet), with the draw 29/10 (Boylesports, SportingBet, bwin).
