Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon will miss the match against New Zealand on Sunday with injury.
The 32-year-old was replaced at half-time during the 1-1 draw with Paraguay due to a herniated disc in his back.
Italy’s medical chief, Professor Enrico Castellacci, said: “It’s not easy to make a prognosis but it’s a small margin and Buffon strongly wants to recuperate.”
The Azzurri are hopeful of Buffon returning to action later in the tournament, but for now Frederico Marchetti will deputise between the sticks.
New Zealand are 20/1 (Boylesports) underdogs against the world champions, who can be backed at 13/5 (bwin) to win by two goals and 4/1 (bwin) to win by three goals.
