Denmark v Holland - Giovanni von Bronckhorst aims to retire with winner's medal

World Cup Staff - 14 Jun 2010

Giovanni von Bronckhorst wants to make lifting the Jules Rimet Trophy his final act as Holland captain.

The 35-year-old defender, who will rack up his 100th cap against Denmark today (kick off 12.30 BST), recently announced he would be retiring following this summer’s World Cup in South Africa.

And the former Glasgow Rangers, Arsenal and Barcelona star is planning the most glorious of exits.

Van Bronckhorst said: “For a player, it is wonderful to win awards and prizes, that is what you do it for and I have won almost everything I can in my career, apart from the World Cup.

“This is my last chance and I hope I will be sat here in a few weeks time talking about winning it.”

The match is being televised live on ITV1 and streamed on ITV's website (kick off 12.30 BST).

But if you can't get near a television, don't worry because World Cup News has you covered with live updates on our website and Twitter service.
