Arjen Robben will miss Holland’s first match of the World Cup on Monday.
The Bayern Munich winger is undergoing intensive treatment after suffering a small tear in his left hamstring during the 6-1 friendly rout of Hungary.
However, coach Bert van Marwijk is not willing to risk Robben against Denmark.
He said: “Since the final of the Champions League, Arjen has hardly played.
“Whatever one may say, his injury is serious and I do not know when he can join us.
“The team’s goal now is to go as far as possible in the competition to allow Arjen to play with us during the World Cup.”
Holland are 3/5 to make a winning start with totesport and extrabet, while Victor Chandler offer 6/1 for a Danish victory.
Robin van Persie is 4/1 (SkyBet, StanJames) to be the first goalscorer and team-mate Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is 5/1 (Bet365, Ladbrokes). Denmark and Arsenal frontman Nicklas Bendtner is 11/1 with Bet365 and StanJames.
