Holland winger Arjen Robben is fit enough to face Denmark on Monday, according to physio Dick van Toorn.
Robben suffered a small tear in his thigh during the 6-1 friendly rout of Hungary last Saturday and stayed behind for treatment while the rest of the World Cup squad flew to South Africa.
The injury would normally rule out a player for five weeks, but van Toorn amazingly claims the Bayern Munich star will be ready for Holland’s first game following a rigorous treatment program.
“I think Arjen can play,” the physio said.
“If they don’t want him to play for tactical reasons, then fair enough, but one cannot say that he will not be fit to play.
“I say he is fit. If Arjen no longer has any pain then he is fit and then he must also play.
“He is very keen to get South Africa and to be fit for Bayern again.”
Robben is 13/2 (StanJames) to open the scoring against the Danes, with Robin van Persie 4/1 (SkyBet) and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar 5/1 (Ladbrokes). Nicklas Bendtner is the Danish favourite to net first, 11/1 with Bet365.
