Robin van Persie felt there was plenty to be positive about following Holland’s 2-1 victory over World Cup rivals Mexico.
Van Persie finished off defence-splitting passes from Rafael van der Vaart and Ibrahim Afellay as Holland controlled the first half of the friendly.
But the Oranje failed to show the same dominance after the break, with Javier Hernandez pulling one back for Mexico.
However, van Persie was happy nonetheless.
He told SBS6: “We were quite impressive for the majority of the first half and we have shown what we’re capable of. I’ve seen some very good attacks before the break.
“We were unable to keep our good form after the interval, but that isn’t too much of a problem. It was our first exhibition game so we are satisfied.
“We have trained very hard in the past couple of days and that showed in the second half.”
Van Persie can be backed at 18/1 with Bet365 to finish top scorer at the World Cup, while Holland are 12/1 with Paddy Power to lift the Jules Rimet Trophy.
