Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo insists he is not concerned by his goal drought ahead of the World Cup opener against the Ivory Coast.
Ronaldo (22/1 to win the Golden Boot with Boylesports and Paddy Power) has not scored in the national colours for 16 months but was prolific in La Liga last season, netting 26 times for Real Madrid.
And, channelling the style of another former Manchester United player, Eric Cantona, Ronaldo explained goals are like ketchup, “when it comes out (of the bottle) it all comes at once.”
He continued: “I am not worried – I am just plugging away as usual.
“God knows who is working hard and who is deserving. I am perfectly calm.
“I want to turn in a great tournament and, who knows, the best. I will strive for that. My ambition has always been to be the best.
The game is being broadcast on ITV1 and streamed live at ITV.com (kick off 15.00 BST).
