Barcelona midfielder Xavi believes Cesc Fabregas must leave Arsenal to compete for the biggest trophies in the game.
Fabregas’ future at the Emirates Stadium has been the subject of much speculation this week, with newspaper reports claiming the 23-year-old has told boss Arsene Wenger he wants to rejoin Barca.
Barca themselves have publicly acknowledged their desire to re-sign the former academy player, and Xavi’s comments will have no doubt raised the ire of Wenger and those at the Emirates.
Xavi, a team-mate of Fabregas in the Spanish World Cup squad, said: “It is criminal for a player of Cesc’s quality no to be winning the biggest prizes in football.
“He really has no choice to leave. He is making the right decision and I hope Arsenal fans wish him well.”
Spain go into the World Cup as favourites to win the 2010 World Cup on the back of their stunning Euro 2008 success.
But if you want to back another team Stan James has extended an incredible concession to anyone not betting on Spain this summer.
If you bet on anyone other than Spain winning the World Cup and Spain wins the tournament, the bookmaker will give you your money back.
So if you were to back England and Spain won you'd get your money back.*
