Former England star backs Germany to complete awesome foursome
Former England full-back Paul Parker is backing Germany to win their fourth World Cup.
Parker was famously in the 1990 side that lost to Germany in the semi-final on penalties, and although he still thinks about that heartbreak every single day, he told Betfred.com it’s Joachim Loew’s side who deserve the glory.
Parker said: "I would definitely love the Germans to go and win it. Just for everybody to see that young players can play good football, and if you are good enough you are old enough.
"They have played with no fear and they have been good to watch. England must now adopt this policy."
Bookmakers Betfred make Spain the favourites to qualify for the final at 8/11 and the Germans the outsiders at evens, but Paul Parker believes the bookies are wrong.
"Germany are playing with no fear and I’m surprised Spain are the favourites," he continued.
"Twice Germany have been the underdogs now and twice they have won convincingly so they will be quite happy they are not the bookies’ favourites. Put the emotions aside, think about the football, and it has to be the Germans.”
