Australia defender Lucas Neill has vowed to lead the team to an upset win over Germany in their World Cup opener.
The Socceroos are reeling from the departure of goalkeeper Brad Jones, who has returned home following the news his young son had been diagnosed with leukaemia.
Australia looked out of sorts during their friendly defeat to the United States on Saturday, but Neill is confident the team can bounce back in style and beat the Germans for Jones and his family.
He said: “It gives us that extra inspiration we needed to want to be successful.”
Skybet are offering 10/1 on Australia to beat Germany, with Everton star Tim Cahill scoring.
