FIFA’s prestigious Ballon d’Or award will be won by a Barcelona player this year.
Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi have been confirmed as the final three after FIFA narrowed down their original 23-man shortlist named in October.
Iniesta and Xavi played key roles as Barca retained the Primera Liga title last season, and they enjoyed further glory in the summer by helping Spain add the World Cup to the European Championship won two years ago, with Iniesta netting the winner against Holland in the final.
Argentina international Messi is the current holder of the award and it is no surprise that he joins his Barca team-mates in the final three following another superb year with the Catalan giants.
Also, Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola is on the three-man shortlist for the Coach of the Year award.
He is joined by Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque and Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, who led Inter Milan to Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia glory last season.
