Leigh Copson - 18 Nov 2010
FIFA have suspended executive committee members Amos Adamu and Reynald Temarii over allegations they were willing to sell their World Cup vote for cash.

The pair was accused by the Sunday Times of accepting money in exchange for their votes in the bidding process for the 2018 World Cup.

And FIFA have now banned Adamu from any football-related activity for three years and have fined the Nigerian representative 10,000 Swiss francs, while Tamarii, ofTahiti, has been fined 5,000 francs and banned for one year.

However, both men, who will now be unable to cast their vote in the December 2 ballot to determine the 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosts, have both been cleared of corruption.

Adamu has already revealed his intention to appeal against the decision made by FIFA’s ethics committee.
