England coach Fabio Capello will not resign following his side’s humiliating exit from the World Cup at the hands Germany.
The Three Lions, who performed poorly throughout the tournament in South Africa, suffered their biggest ever World Cup defeat as the Germans set up a quarter-final clash with Argentina with a 4-1 win.
And afterwards Capello admitted he will hold talks with Club England chairman Sir David Richard about his future, but maintains he has no plans to quit.
“Absolutely not,” he said.
“I want to speak with the chairman and then decide my future. I need to know whether the FA have confidence in me or not.”
Meanwhile, opposite number Joachim Loew was delighted with his side carried out their second-half instructions in such clinical fashion.
Germany twice caught out England on the break, with Thomas Muller netting twice to add to first-half goals from Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski.
And Loew said: “We knew we could hit England on the counter-attack because they were open. Our players carried it off brilliantly.”
He also had special praise for two-goal hero Muller, saying: “When it comes to the 18-yard box he is totally cool in hitting home when he has the opportunity.
“I really love the way he dives into the area and finishes chances off. This is quite impressive, he is only 20.”
The Germans are now 7/1 (bet365, SkyBet, SportingBet, Paddy Power, Ladbrokes, Coral, William Hill) to win the Jules Rimet Trophy, but they must first get past one of the tournament favourites, Argentina, who are 15/4 with bodog following the 3-1 win over Mexico.
