Nigeria v Greece - Lars Lagerback hoping to see 'sharper' Nigeria performance

Nigeria coach Lars Lagerback is hoping his Super Eagles look “sharper” in Thursday’s must-win game against Greece.

The opening game defeat to Argentina extended Nigeria’s winless run to six games, and Lagerback is hoping a good week on the training ground will help that record come to an end against the Greeks (kick off 15.00 BST).

The Swede said: “Despite the loss the Argentina we had a good week.

“The players have a really good attitude. Everything is OK in the camp so I’m really looking forward to the game.

“What we have given priority to in training in the days after the Argentina game is to try to be a little sharper in the attacking part of the game.”

Lagerback admits the pressure is firmly on to win this game, knowing that a defeat would pretty much end their hopes of reaching the last 16.

But the Nigeria coach claims his players are relishing the challenge.

“I’m really looking forward to it even as it is probably a must win to through to the second round,” he continued.

“I see it as a positive challenge and I think having talked to the player they look upon it the same.”

The game is being broadcast on BBC One and streamed live on the broadcaster's official website.
